Got into Marillion in Feb 1982 on the Saliva Tears tour after a Friday Rock show session way before they had a record deal, Fish was still in make-up and they were playing small pubs to 20 or 30 people, which made Fish's theatrics all the more fun.
They were (are) a great band that really cared about their fans and developed a real grass roots following. Think I might dig out my 12" Grendel over the weekend!!
I saw them in a liesure centre gig in swansea in 1982 also..on the 'script for a jesters' tear' tour...
they were brilliant live. also saw them as a support act to status quo (ok, ok) 1985 at milton keynes bowl. a really top band of musicians. 'Fugazi' has to be my fav track.
