90s grrrl song?

Can anyone identify this song, I heard it recently on Match Of The Day on BBC 1. I'm sure it's a well-known American rock/grunge song from the 1990s, female vocals (probably an all-girl group), starts off with a catchy guitar riff, has some shouted vocals then the chorus goes something like 'in the shade, in the shade' (??) Help, its been driving me mad!!
