With the UK firmly out of the EU, will other member countries follow our lead and hold votes to leave, and if they do could this signal the breakup of the EU ?

its already on the break up,Netherlands will be next ,and 50% of the french are up for getting out
Yes yes ans Yes - If I was a country leader in the EU I`d be struggling to find a reason not to hold a referendum
I imagine the countries ( apart from Germany ) which pay in the most will be the ones where the population is keenest to have a referendum. Those countries which take out the most will be the ones most reluctant to see a break-up. But I gather many French, Dutch and Italians like the idea of leaving.
There will be (probably already are) calls for referendums but whether sufficient pressure can be applied in each individual country we can only wait and see. Were I in their shoes I'd be tempted to see how the UK got on first. Let them be the guinea pig. The EU hierarchy have a problem though. Be seen being awkward and trying to punish a member who has resigned and the other members may well think that they need to get out from EU influence too. Be decent and help make the resignation as painless as possible and the other countries might think, "That looks a good deal for us too." Or one can be sneaky and try to mess things up whilst trying to look innocent, like pushing for a rush job in the hope it will worry the markets further and encourage poor decisions. Things like that.
I have no interest in other countries , but if any country is thinking of leaving, they would be wise to see what impact it has on Britain first. !!!!!
The EU is structurally and institutionally broken (that is, if it was ever fit for purpose in the first place, since its formation in 1992). The Euromaniacs have suppressed the will of the people across the continent for the last twenty years by various means. They refuse to acknowledge their fundamental problems and this greatly contributes to their inability to deal with them. They still will not do so and the only option for countries unwilling to remain in a corrupt, broken, inept and unsuitable organisation is to leave. However, I have grave doubts that the national politicians of the other countries whose electorates express a desire to leave will be granted a vote. They have seen what happened here.

I would imagine Britain first are loving it
Don't think for one minute that Scotland is firmly out of the EU. We voted to stay in. Scottish parliament working today on the next steps to ensure we stay part of the EU.
Maggiebee, you dislike the English so much yet you embrace the IMO corrupt governance of the EU. You must hate the English so much to take this stance!
Dunnitall, I have no idea where you got the idea that I hate the English. You couldn't be further from the truth. However, I am a Scot from a proud nation and feel that after 300 years it is now time that we take control of our own affairs once more. We in Scotland have too much to lose by leaving the EU although our fishermen and farmers might argue differently. All 32 constituencies in Scotland voted to remain yet we may be forced to leave. Is this fair?
Maggie....why did you lie on your thread?
Italy, Denmark and Sweden too.....
Loving ones country doesn't mean hating another country .
A Patriot loves his/her country......a Nationalist hates everyone else's....
Anne the patriot. :-)
Aren't Patriots some form of missile system?
Ann a patriot...lmao...
Tony. You're a cheeky wee bisom.x
wee bisom

You'll have to translate that for me, anne ;-)
