and all who (like me) have lost their Mum recently. xx

Happy Mothering Sunday - let's campaign to keep the traditional English name of "Mothering Sunday" instead of "Mothers Day" which is American I believe.

I do agree with you. I dislike Mothers Day very much.
I agree with your sentiments Ann but as for the name that may be a lost cause, I've known it as Mother's Day all my life although aware that the official religious name is Mothering Sunday
I seem to remember going to Sunday School and getting a small bunch of violets to take home to my Mum on Mothering Sunday

Yes Mazie we did that too in our church. We had a Family service and all the little Brownies presented the ladies (whether Muims or not) with a lovely polyanthus plant - we still have the photos of this annual event!
Mothering Sunday was originally to do with the mother church, not actual mothers, so Mothers' Day is really a nicer name.
I agree Ann, I am not a mother and would like to have been one. My mother died in 2009, I still miss her. Happy Mothering Sunday to all, mothers or not.
I'm in that category, I guess - not sad (the way things worked out) not to have had children, but I was still a daughter, and still miss my mother, who died in 2003.

The religious reference is not relevant to so many these days, I'm happy to stick with Mother's Day
Ann, I am one of those you mention in your first line and it is something so hard to come to terms with, All I ever wanted was a family but my health had other ideas. It is lovely to have a mention. Thank you xx

Yes flump - I, like you, really feel it especially on days like today - it is something I will never ever come to terms with as it means no grandchildren either. x

My kids brought me breakfast in bed on Mother’s Day: an Egg McMuffin. I was just relieved that I wouldn’t have to clean the kitchen.

There are over 6,000 human languages remaining in the world, and sometimes I can't talk to my mum in any of them.

I love Mother's Day, yes I would rather call it that, and I'm so grateful I've still got my Mum to spoil, now in her early 80's. Looking forward to Father's Day next ..
