Can anyone please tell me what the name of the song is that is in 'Shrek' (the first one) and is also in the very last episode of the OC season 1? It has the word 'Hallelujah' in it and is quite a slow song.

Cheers

Ok Cheers but does anyone know if i can get it with a female voice singing it?

Not sure that the pitch isn't too low for a woman to sing it.  I guess googling "Hallelujah" won't help.  :(  The best suggestion I can think of is asking in HMV - they tend to have very knowledgeable staff - if you go in during the week especially.

I'd like to challenge mika jones that the best version is actually my friend John's version.  He's recorded it and we're really hoping he'll get signed soon.  :-p :-)

Either way - welcome both of you to the AB, don't believe everything you read in the papers about me, I'm actually very nice.  And mika jones you certainly seem a very welcome addition as I've already spotted several very helpful and to the point answers that you've given today.  :-)

lol now now acw dont scare them away, of course we know you're nice x x

please please read my thread in suggestions mycatis!! Please please - it's really important to me that you guys see what I've added today.

Sorry kim - that won't mean much to you but I'm desperately trying to get hold of a few people!!!

I have read it acw and I think you are doing pretty well at not just screaming "bu**er off the lot of you,'s not fair" 'cause thats the kind of thing I would want to do lol  If any ABers had met me a few years ago they would have been horrified, my mate used to go around behind me saying sorry to people who I had been rude to, see you're not as bad as I used to be. I really could not hold my tongue if I disagreed with people. If you cant be self-confident and arrogant (me not you) when you are young, when can you?
Yeah - seen it.  And the post.  Thank you! :-)  I don't know if I should thank people in that thread cos I wasn't asking for people to jump up and say nice things, flattered as I am.  Anyhow, let's keep that to it's proper place and leave poor Kim along!!! :-)

Back to the original question

K.D. Lang did a terrible version of the song. I agree with mikajones Jeff Buckleys version is by far the best. Once you listen to it you will understand by opinion about K.D. Lang!

John Cale (The Welsh weirdo from Velvet Underground) sang it in the movie. Original by Leonard Cohen.
..oi! John Cale aint weird!..well atleast compared to the rest of the Velvet Underground... Cohen's version is the best in my opinion...

No of course John Cale is not weird.

Being a classically  trained violinist and piano player and then joining a drug fuelled trio of New York misfits singing about drugs and S+M sex in the conservative 60's whilst under the watchful eye of barking Andy Warhol. Then going through life with a silly two-tone haircut and a pseudo deep falsetto voice. And on top of that having welsh genes.

Of course he is not weird.

..I have Welsh Jeans..I bought them on a day trip to Bangor... :o)
imogen heap does a cover of that song now aswell xo
