Stayed outside for a fag, as I always do. Asked her to look at the price of Becks beer, and if it was still on offer for £7 to buy a box. Now my Wife is very astute. When she loads the belt she knows ish how much the bill will be, usually she is no more than 20p out. Today she estimated £20.20p. When the cashier said £23.18 she paid the bill and checked it after leaving the till. She had been charged £10 for the Becks. She went to customer service and complained that the shelf price said £7. The supervisor checked, agreed and refunded the £3. She also said as you have been over charged you are entitled to a gift card. Okay it was only for £2. What i am really getting at is how many of you check your receipt.
Always check mine and have caught them and some of the other supermarkets out like that too....they make mistakes same as the rest of us so always best to check up methinks. Asda are good like that with refunds and reimbursements.
I add everything up in my head as I walk round, making estimates for the fruit and veg which have to be weighed at the checkout, so I usually know roughly what the bill should be. I rarely have to challenge it in the big supermarkets but our local Co-op often hasn't got the latest offers programmed into the EPOS system, so quite frequently have to query my bills there.
every time, mm - i'm usually very skint and know what i buy to the last penny. just not when i went xmas shopping with the boy and old farts just before the big day. i got robbed by everyone, i think! x
Ummm makes an interesting point. While many people check that the amount demanded by the cashier is correct, they don't always check what's shown on the card reading device which they enter their PIN into. I have to admit that, while I try to remember to check, I don't always do so!
Everytime micmak and most times I am overcharged at Tesco.
Today I bought 2 packets of almonds. It said £1.35 on the label, they charged me £1.99.
Went to Customer Services who told me the almonds were in the wrong place so they could refund but not let me have them for the price I saw.
I asked to see the manager, told him it's not my fault they're in the wrong place.
He apologised and the difference in price was returned to me.
It happens regulary.
