Hi

My Fiancee and I are due to get married this July. She has organised everything, and because its abroad it has made it quite difficult. We (she) have (has) got more or less everything sorted now bar a few extra things.Plus a lot of her family live where we are getting married so have been able to help out with a few things.

I don't think she minded taking the lead and organising it all but I can see it has been stressing her out. In fact, she's the type of person that would rather organise it herself as that way it will be perfect and in order and she knows whats going on, rather than leave it to someone else, if you know what I mean.

Anyway, the reason i came on here is to ask for suggestions for something to do to suprise her about something i've organised for the wedding. (i'm thinking for the actual day) I'm finding it quite tricky. But any sensible answers would be very welcome.

Thanks in advance

what about a necklace or something like that. Or you could treat to a spa day either before the wedding or after it.
a strippergram!

Betcha she'll be surprised :-)
I think you'd need to be careful - if everything arranged down to the last flower, whatever you do has got to fit into the programme.
Give us a bit more info as to what's been organised and we might come up with something appropriate.

Helicopter flight to reception venue or honeymoon
String quartet to play at vows and reception
Plane flypast

Are the things I can think of so far.
What about printing some Romance vouchers. You could give her a book of them say Pay the bearer 1 hour of romance say a massage, a nice meal with washing up. she could use them whenever she wants some pampering. This would have the added advantage of starting your marriage off on a lovely footing and costing hardly anything. I think most women would appreciate this especially after the stress of a wedding.... Good luck.
A slide show of pics of you!?

Mums friends hubby got up and sang her a song! X
Is she the romantic type? what about organising a singer to serenade her favourite song or maybe sing for your first dance.
Anngel, could you possibly email my OH with that idea?!
Barmaid, you could show him on here. I will be surprised if it happens though. My OH would not do it in a million years.
Good point Anngel. Nice thought though!
maybe get a star named for her, or if she's an animal lover, adopt one of her favourite animals for her..............
Don't turn up! That should surprise her :-)
Deff a spa day/weekend. Dont know where you live, but there is an ace one in Covent Garden. The Sanctuary.

I like the slideshow thing, a friend of mine had one at her wedding (her sister did it) and it was lovely for so many more people too as I'd known the bride and her twin since we were toddlers and there were photos from young right up to them meeting them photos together so a lovely nostalgia for everyone really. You could put it to a song(s) which relate to different parts of your life or that mean something to you both. It shows serious effort which is one of the nicest things I think - that someone took their time to do something special for you rather than just buying something easy.

The point about day organisation is a good one - is she quite laid back or like to have everything organised to minute detail and running like clockwork? It also depends how on how she feels about all attention on her.

I know it's a wedding so there will be attention and photos but the spotlight on her specifically could be a bit much if she's not into that such as someone signing a song direct to her. I love the scene in Love Actually where the friend who is in love with the bride has planned all the orchestra and singers appearing!

It's quite personal to her really. I know I'd be wowed by something like fireworks or a gospel choir...oh that sounds so OTT idea, just because I love fireworks and gospel choirs, they are the first things that came to me haha!

How about something for a unique photo opportunity tied in with something she would enjoy? Even if all transport is organised then a quick trip round somewhere close - I'm struggling to think of a car as I'm not a big car girl (I like little pretty sporty ones but not very wedding dress friendly!) but maybe a horse and carriage? A friend of mine arrived at her wedding in one and it looked lovely!

I saw a hot air balloon thing on something too (err...just don't watch a certain Rescue Special Ops wedding episode!).

Just make sure it's nothing that could get her/dress/hair messed up or set off any allergy or anything!
just be there for her as yourself .Surprises have a habit of going wrong on big days
Are there any of her relatives / best friends who can't make it to the wedding?

You could make arrangements to get them there, perhaps?
what about a piece of jewellery to present to her on the day as a token of your love? i mean something really nice here like a diamond bracelet which would compliment her dress and other jewellery (specifically matching the engagement and wedding ring she will wear etc. for the rest of her life). my hubby has bought me pieces of jewellery at various points in our life that are random, unexpected and truly treasured but mark important milestones - like the ruby and diamond eternity ring when my son was born; and a pair of diamond earrings when i got my degree. small, well made beautiful objects that have real sentimental value and will last her a lifetime. so.....choose carefully! good luck x
you have some really nice suggestions up there ^^^ bob,
and nice one on you for wanting to do something special for her, how lovely of you!

how about a nice engraved locket and chain with both your photos in it?

or, another nice idea is to do her a 'photo book' (aldis photo books are excellent!! i had one done for my brother and wife and it was brilliant!)
start it with photos of when you first met, and follow it through with a nice selection of pictures, telling a story of your time together,
give it to her with a lovely satin ribbon tied around it, with a flower that compliments the colour of flowers chosen for the day, attached to the bow,
i think she would love that, and its something to keep and cherish for years to come :o)

i hope you both have a really lovely, special day x
Where about is it abroad?
Learn to sing and perform the song at the reception/ceremony
