I am truly terrified of our feathered friends, we had a nest directly above our front door in the roof, I knew baby birds must have been in there as there was a constant flying in and out of the" Mummy" bird, lots of mess each day to clean away but it had to be done, they flew the nest about June? but now the poo is down my wall again and down the front door too, I just was curious if there was a nesting time now, I am scared of them but I would never harm them
thanks

Yes Bobbi birds can and do nest sometimes up to three times during spring/summer if conditions permit. A friend of mine has a nest of baby blackbirds in her back yard just now, they are just starting to leave the nest!

I really don't know why or how this came about, maybe it was years ago when as a young office worker, some of us were acting on where there were some huge sinks, it was a factory and birds often got in back then, I was larking around with one of the cleaners mop-buckets, we all were, to see if we could swing it round our heads when it was full without spilling any, the sink was full and we were splashing each other, I removed what I thought was mop bits from the plug hole, to my horror it was a baby starling, I wasn't looking so I squeezed hard to drain the 'mop' of water, the birds head rolled over my wrist!

they probably are :-)
but it was already dead, having drowned
Gosh I'm glad it was dead Bobbi - I thought you meant you squeezed it so hard that it died!

I'm still chuckling at the antics you and your colleagues got up to - swinging mop buckets round your head lol

I hate birds too Bobbi, I don't know how but a sparrow got trapped in my cupboard under the sink in the kitchen once. I could hear it in a panic knocking tins over, flapping its wings & tweeting like mad. I thought if I opened the door it would fly at me, my H was out and would be at least 3 hrs, could I open that door?? then I had a brainwave little Sonia next door (9) liked animals, so I knocked & asked her mum if she could release it for me, she was thrilled she followed me in the kitchen she could hear it in distress, I escaped to another room while Sonia opened the back door then opened the cupboard door, it flew around the kitchen twice (I would have died if I had been in there) & then out the back door.
Sonia is 29 today but still reminds me of that day.

I think there are quite a few of us out there Bobbi.

Phobias can be very irrational but very real and terrifying to the sufferer, my ex next door neighbor had a phobia about birds in particular pigeons, she used to get really upset over it.
