I drive a Fiat Panda Multujet Diesel and am very happy with it. Usually I am a fair-weather driver but my daughter has asked me to take her to the railway station every Sunday morning around 6 AM as the buses do not have an early start on Sundays in winter....Any advice on how tto make my little car -and me ! - safer on icy mornings ???

Make sure your Tyres are in good condition with plenty of Tread. Drive safely and within your limits. Make sure you have Anti-freeze in your cooling system as well as in your Windscreen wash Bottle. Get the engine heated up properly before you set off and make sure all your Car Windows are clear visually. If you have to brake, brake slowly and take care.
Happy motoring !
Hi, as said, also if your steering goes very very light you have Ice beneath your wheels, your first indicator of this is when your engine starts to rev up when you think you have done nothing wrong ( Going up a hill etc) been your car is front wheel drive you should have more traction because of the weight of your engine this to a point does help but YOU are the driver, Experience is the thing to think of, If you are taking her to the station at the given time, start early, allow time, If your car has Antifreeze you have no problem, if not & you can hear your car scream when you start up, you have a Frozen Radiator/ Pipes, another way to test your cooling system and that it's running ok, your heater should be working & blowing out hot air. Take Care.
