When your tax is due to run out you get a reminder from the DVLA, if you do not renew your tax and continue driving the car how long do you get before you get a fine and how much is it?

Are you being naughty Elvis??!! All I can say is that unless you let tehm know that your car's off-road, they'll automatically serve you with a fine pretty soon. Everything's on computer.
Not sure how much a fine'd be - but I think it's about £80, and then you need to pay for tax renewal of course.

Hiya Ice, not me, but a neighbour of mine, his tax ran out the end of Sept

18 months ago he had two cars on the road both untaxed and was using one of them, just p!ssed off that he gets away with it, I reported both of those and have reported the latest one
They'll catch up with him, but you need to report the car reg and give the address in. I can sympathise with folk who think they're being ripped off by this tax, but one of the reasons it's high, is because of those who don't bother to pay! If the car's standing on the road, ask the police to walk round and have a look!!

Of the two cars he had 18 months ago only one of the Reg plates married up to the car, the other one didn`t marry up to anything, both cars went after two weeks

For the record.......I`m not in the habit of being a grass but this particular man is a nasty piece of sh!t who should`ve been hung 5 years ago, I`ll say no more ;o)
No - well I'm not a snitch either, but when it comes to this sort of thing, you need to act. For all you know, maybe there's no MOT on the car either then. It might be a death trap.
You don't need to give your name in - just tell someone what you know, and say it needs looking into asap.

what i dont understand is, if its all on computer, why have to display a tax disc at all? Or better still, they should make them into a sticker rather than having to chop out all those little holes!
I taxed two of my cars on the same day at a post office ,two day before the end of the month, and the tax disc's have consecutive serial numbers. I have received a computer generated letter informing me that as I have not taxed my car and that I face prosecution. The letter is unsigned and does not include a phone number and the computer is telling me I MUST fill in the form and return it to them. And I am expected to pay the postage. Perhaps as I would be replying to a computer my reply should read 11010001000110111100101000011010000 with knobs on!
