road tax

why is it the police, fire and ambulance service have to pay road tax and the army, navy and RAF dont!

Surely they are just buying the road license with government money and then giving it straight back to the government

Police don't pay road tax, the disc says NIL where the price should be.
RNLI have a white "tax exempt" disc
The tax disc should say 'exempt'. I sometimes use pool cars (I'm a civil servant) and the disc is white as bigboots suggested.
