went to fill up with petrol this morning - cannot get the flap open to then unscrew cap to get petrol in. This has never happened before. There is no lever or anything in the car to open it. I think it may be connected somehow to the locks - i.e. when the car is unlocked the flap will open, when car is locked it won't. My car is a P reg renault megane. I have recently had to have the immobiliser 'demobilised' due to key problems. Any suggestions how I can get this damn thing open without having to force it? I need to put petrol in it today. Thanks.

Hi, the petrol cap may have seized up with the damp and cold weather at the moment, try and warm it up somehow and try it. if the cap is connected to the locking system, u may have a wire that is tripped that links up to the petrol cap, in this case, it will need re-wiring, so the only other option would be to force it open, but then you are risking damaging the cap itself.
Go into the boot take out the boot lining directly behind the filler flap, there is an emergency release in there.

You will probably need a new solenoid for it to work properly.

it's not the cap itself - it's the flap that covers the cap (if you know what I mean...?!)
