Hope someone can help me out. I am getting a strange noise from my VW Passat 2002 1.9 TDI, it sounds like a vibration noise, and its only really there when I pull away in first gear, its not always there, its very intermittent. It kind of sounds like the car will stall? I have noticed today that it gets louder aswell if I turn the steering wheel right or left at the same time. It really sounds like something vibrating. I have no warning lights on, car was serviced in April and all was OK, MPG is all fine, there are no leaks or anything. Does anyone have any idea's , car has done 80k. The only recent work was a new plastic undertray was fitgtded, not even sure if it could be related, as at the very front of the car where the tray meets the bumper, its a little loose (ie I can push it up about 1 cm) as the clip is broken, so ive thought about a table tie. Any ideas/views??? Thanks Steve

Possible Thrust bearing within the gearbox, Tray catching the bottom pulley, U/Js on drive shafts, Wheel bearings, As you say try a cable tie and try.

Hi,
Just a Q, why did you replace the under tray? have you had any work done on the front end of your car? Has it had a front end bump? If so this can be the direction you should be looking at.
