Does anyone know a good route from Calais to Orleanes without using the Paris ringroad? I've been told there is an alternative motorway route but can't find it on my map. Thanks in advance.

I have a 2007 AA atlas of France, no such motorway appears on any of the pages – perhaps the Frenchies are keeping the best roads for themselves.

from Calais, A16 to Abbeville, A28 to Rouen, A13 & A154 to Louviers, N154 via Evreux, Dreux, Chartres to A10 at Allaines, then to Orleans.
Admittedly it's not all autoroute, and parts of the N154 are single carriageway (but these are mostly straight and not too busy), but it's not a bad route.

Thanks Hymie & mushroom25.
Mushroom I've been on the route you gave many times, though not for a few years, and always seem to get stuck in Rouen.
Do you know if Rouen is by-passed yet.

"is Rouen by-passed?"
umm... no. I've never been stuck there though - maybe I've just been lucky.

hope you have better luck than us. Some years ago we asked the AA for the quickest route from Le havre to Disneyland Paris, should have asked for the easiest!!Had told daughter no. 1 you won't be really in Paris, we spent many hours on the Peripherique with daughter saying "look Mummy, The Eiffel Tower" Look mummy, there it is again" till I nearly killed her and the driver (her Dad)

another way I've been before is off the A1 near CDG on to the A104 via Villepinte, Tremblay to Disneyland, then from the A4 to N104 past Combs-la-Ville and the A5 to the A6 at Evry.
