Hi, I have a 1993 rover 620 deisel, When i try to start it from cold i.e (laying overnight) then it really struggles to turnover, sometimes catching sometimes not, then having to get a jumpstart or recharge the battery, but if it does start then every start after that it will catch first time, only giving me trouble again if vleft for a long period of time, 24 hours or so. can anyone tell me if they think this is a battery problem or possibly something else , ..starter motor , alternator etc ? thanks.

Hi, your cheapest solution to try first is changing the glow plugs if these aren't working the car will struggle to start from cold but will be ok when warm. Hope this helps.
Have a look as my response to 'My Tahoe Won't Start', in relation to checking for excessive battery drain causing the problem - and how to fix it.
