how do I find out the speed limit on a certain road?
There isn't a sign anywhere on the road, apart from a no stopping sign. x

Its always 30 unless signs tell you otherwise.

I think lol
If you are driving on a 'national speed limit' road the speed will be 60 mph on a single carriageway, and 70 mph on a dual carriageway.

That is a round white sign with a black diagonal line across it. Usually this is the only sign.

thanks both!
Look at side roads leading off the road your driving if it doesnt revert back to a 30mph in a red circle then your in a 30 limit.
Nearly right REV,

Where there are street lamps the speed limit is 30mph unless signs show otherwise.

Other roads are the national speed limit unless signs show otherwise.

The one you have to be carefull of is where you are in a 30 limit and the street lights are suddenly no longer at the side of the road and the 30 limit carries on for awhile.
is it 30mph in any built up area??
no - not in any built-up area - the speed limit signs are the clue and if there aren't any and there are street lamps then it's 30mph
