My diesel Ford Courier van takes a while to start in the morning and gives it's usual cloud when it does. The engine has 'no guts' until it's warmed right up and I've noticed that its very slow going up hills. It has a new fuel pump, service, clutch cyclinder, timing belt but the same performance exists.
if its that bad in the mornings try squirtng brake clean or another type of combustable fluid up the air intake whilst the engine is being turned over (2 man job). don't do it to often but might get you through christmas. in jectors sounds good to me as well.
normal lighter gas refills are cheapest to use to aid starting.
try using a diesel additive ( 5 local car shop ) to clean the injectors before paying out for a new set. use it in half a tank fuel andsee if things improve.
