another 3 pts
If you're offered 3 points grab it quick

If the speed limit is 40, 68 is an additional 18 this means the *recommended* is 4 or 5 points OR disqualify for up to 42 days and a level B fine

see Magistrate guidelines ( p176 of the full document) here:

http://www.jsboard.co.uk/downloads/acbb/comple te_06v2.pdf

68 in a 40 is an additonal 28 mph, which means (according to those guidelines) that 6 points are recommended, or disqualification up to 56 days, and again, a level B fine.
Doh, thanks zipadeedoodah

Mustn't answer before drinking coffee!

As I said if they offer you a 3 point penalty bite their hand off but as the 6 points would disqualify you I think it's likely you may find yourself trying to convince a magistrate not to take your license.

General advice on that front is not to say how you'd lose your job or how your family would suffer because everybody does and your chances with that approach are pretty low.

If you do any charity work or anything like that that you couldn't do without a car that's probably your best chance - It's not too late to start taking OAPs out on day trips!
6 points already and so you do 68mph in a 40 zone. You are stupid.
