What's your favourite videogame and why?

Much as I've enjoyed current gen gems, my faves are still some of the SNES classics namely Super Mario World and maybe Donkey Kong too.

Wonderboy 3 on the master system.
It was class.
Thief - absolutely brilliant, though I also loved Impossible Mission on the Commodore.
Hunter on the Amiga was good. The Tomb Raider series I go back to time and time again. The orignal Ghost Recon and expansion packs on the X-box are good, dont like GR2, they totally changed the control system, to the worse.
A link to the past
because it's just a masterpiece
or maybe Railroad ******
because it's incredibly addictive
Super Mario World on the SNES was amazing, and Zelda:Ocarina of time and Goldeneye on N64 classics too.
Still love Duck Hunt from the NES, Rick Dangerous on PC and Alex Kidd on Master System too.
Having recently revisited many games using a specturm emulator they are not as good as we remember them I fear.

However a couple that stand out are Thunderbirds on the Spectrun and Mario Cart (snes original).
you have to go some to beat Doom but as I'm really old I can remember a great game called PP Hammer that was soooo addictive
WoWo - preferred Mario Cart on N64 to SNES. Got both at home, might have a go when I get in from pub tonight.
playing video games whilst 'under the influence' makes me want to throw up!
my fave all time game is Medal of Honor:Allied Assault on pc.I absolutely luv it....others have tried to beat it ie Call of Duty to name but one but for me they dont have that x factor that MOH does.
Fave current game is Battlefield 2 on 360.
final fantasy is the best game ever, if you haven't played it yet give it a go. resident evil for the gamecube is a close second.
The first two monkey island games, crap graphics, but great puzzles/jokes.
hmmm, Medal of Honour? only played it on PS1. good game though.

Never really got into resident evil series. Never owned the game, there was never an instant addiction to them.
it would have 2 be the grand theft auto series on the PS2,
u cant beat classic killing, races and crooked cops
Elite on the Spectrum and Beeb, and an old arcade favourite was Battlezone
"resident evil 4",i've played it so many times but it just never fails to excite me,i cant wait til "dead rising" though i think it could be the greatest zombie fest ever
Alex the Kidd is up there for me. Times were hard back then and a built in game was much appreciated - thank you Sega!
my favourite retro game has to be sonic 1 or 2 ive been playing alot of modded versions lately, but my favourite game has to be final fantasy 7 as i enjoy complex multi layered story lines and i find the over all design and characters are very researched on their backgrounds and the overall life span was pretty good. now most rpg games are using typical medieval style fantasy and are losing their individuality.
Michael Jacksons Moonwalker.

Ah the memories!

Streets of Rage 2 brings them all back too!
Zelda OFT, Goldeneye, Perfecr Dark, Mario Kart - N64.

Gamecube: Resident Evil Remake (simply incredible graphics), Mario Kart DD, Mario Sunshine, Smash Bros Melee.
