I dropped my car key last night and now when I press the button on key it won't unlock or lock the car remotely, I now have to manually insert the key to lock/unlock. Does any one know if this is fairly easy/cheap to fix or is it quite technical and could end up costing a lot of money? The car is a Peugeot 206 (not sure if that makes any difference). Thanks.

It could be a connection has broke. A soldering iron will set you back about 5.
It may have slipped out of code. My renault dealershisp charges about 30 for recoding.
If your dealership say it is knackered and you need a new one, Renault tried to charge me 90 for a new fob AND 30 for encoding it. DO NOT BUY A FOB OF YOUR DEALERSHIP. Look on e-bay, I picked up mine for 4. You may even pick up a fob from a scrap yard.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for your advice, i'll contact my local dealership. I think I can get a fob from ebay.
If you buy a key of ebay and it has been used before some makes cannot be re-coded, be carefull.

Renault have now changed the routine of re-coding keys, the ebay ones will no longer work!

Due to Renault mechanics in France being dishonest by when they re-code keys they also re-code a key off ebay for themselves or a friend, they then go and steal the Renault from the owners address. This is no longer possible because of new security measures.
