Car - 1.2 Vauxhall Corsa 16V GLS

Can someone please tell me what signs to look out for if I believe that my Catalytic Converter is failing, has failed or is simply blocked up?

What do you suggest may clear the problem?

Cheers

get underneath the car when it has not been running for a while, so as not to burn yourself and give it a couple of good smacks with the palm of your hand. if you here a clunking or rattling sound coming from inside the unit, you should be able to feel it slightly as well as hear it. then chances are your convertor has melted down and possibly broken into pieces restricting your exhaust flow.
this happened to me . if cat is blocked there is a good chance it will alsorestrict your revs & not accelerate as fast
