Hi. Some lovely person left me with a rather badly damaged/cracked rear bumper on my Mondeo. This seems to be quite a weak spot on these cars as I have seen many which have been repaired with tape etc.

Can anyone tell me if this is just cosmetic (it just seems like a fibreglass cover) or is it an MOT failure? I have an MOT this afternoon and have just remembered the hole in my bumper!

Thanks.

As long as there are no sharp edges which could injure a pedestrian, you might get away with it. I take it your mondeo is pre 2001(when the new shape came out). I noticed all the rear bumpers as well and checked ours. There is a little plastic clip in the centre of the bottom edge of the bumper, but it is not fixed, so the wind can blow the bumper off the clip and 'snap' the bumper. The way to get over this is to drill through the plastic clip and the metal bracket it sits on and put a nut and bolt in.
