What do you mean, has there been an accident that was not your fault and you need a hire car?
If you drive a car without an MOT that is a fixed penalty offence, it does not give you points on your licence so it will not affect insurance or hiring a car.
if it was your car you are responsible for the mot insurance and tax no one else. how come it was not your fault ?

Basically i was driving to a pre booked mot and on the way i got hit by another lady driver who took full responsibility and i am aware if its a write off the settlement pay might not be as great as it would if i had a current mot but my question is will this effect me if i wanted a courtesy car whilst my car is being seen by the engineer as i know this might take weeks
Question Author
Because i want to
Know if they will offer me a courtesy car even tho my car had no mot at the time but bare in mind the other driver has excepted full liability

///hit by another lady driver/// . . . your Profile shows you as Male?

Do you mean you've been hit by Lady Drivers before?

If you were on a direct route to a pre booked MOT you were driving legally and should have no problem.

I think you will find the other driver accepted full responsibility

Question Author
Yes i was hit by a lady driver i am a male and yes i can confirm i did have a pre booked mot appointment. so your saying they will offer me a courtesy car regardless if my car had no mot at the time and thanks for the advice
Question Author
Because i was thinking they might turn around and say we cant offer you a courtesy car as you didnt have a mot so your car was not road worthy but then again if insurance are willing to pay you i dont see the reason why they should refuse
When I've had courtesy cars I've never been asked about an MOT. And as what you did was perfectly legal I can't see any reason for them refusing.
Question Author
Yeah your right lol i just over think things it should be fine i will request a courtesy car tommorow i cant be asked to walk any longer. Thank :)
If the lady driver's insurance will pay for a courtesy car all well and good.If not you will have to pay for one,the MOT doesn't really come into the situation.
If this wrong I apologise, but I am not a driver, only using common sense here.

But what if there insurance asks to provide my mot but only notice that it has expired would they stil be willing to pay for the coutesy?
Someone recently reversed into my car. Her insurers provided a courtesy car. An MOT wasn't mentioned.
I agree with Naomi. If the lady driver is taking responsibility,WHY would they want to see your MOT?
You seem to be seeing problems where there are none.
But what if there insurance asks to provide my mot but only notice that it has expired would they stil be willing to pay for the coutesy?

There not going to ask you, you don't get an MOT certificate these days. The MOT is registered on line.
And anyhow you were driving your car to a pre booked MOT test so all is legal.
Question Author
Yeah that sounds fine its just i read another post saying no mot no insurance so was just getting a little worried.
Question Author
But everythng is online so they wont need to ask for documents so is anyone in the same situation as me
Yes, MOT's are registered on line. Have been for around three years now.
Question Author
So thats what in saying when there insurers check my MOT is invalid wont they be eagor to to refuse to pay for a coutesy car sorry i just dont know how it works without MOT ive had a claim years back but i didnt need to worry because i had everything done but now i have my concerns
but now i have my concerns

Well you shouldn't have, the garage where you had your MOT booked will have a record of your booking. So if your insurance company plays up about no MOT just get a copy of your MOT appointment from the garage to show them.
Question Author
Thats fine that puts my mind at ease thank you
