Why does red paintwork fade and go flatter than most other colours?

Hi,  this is not a simple question and the answer is to long for here. go to  http://www.madsci.org/posts/archives/nov98/912228411.Ch.r.html for a very good explanation.
The red (and yellow) pigments used is expensive now Lead cannot be used and some manufacturers use cheaper grades which are less lightfast.
