I've got a crack...

...in my car windscreen.

I also have an MOT on Monday...

The question is: what criteria does a crack have to fill in order to fail an MOT?

My particular crack measures just under a centimetre, and is (about) six centimetres from the bottom and seven or eight centimetres from the right...

Thanks

Basically, if it is not in the "swept area" of the screen then should be o.k.  "Swept Area" = Anywhere the screen wipers touch the screen!
To be sure, look here:- http://www.ukmot.com/6-1.asp  Hope that this will clear it up!
The windscreen must be free of cracks or other significant damage within the driver's field of view (small stone chips are acceptable).
how did you get on?

Well, I've been too pained and depressed to go on-line since the MOT/Service...  My new (well, I bought it second-hand from a garage last year - V-reg) and pretty expensive Clio (about 3.5k) went into the Renault garage behaving perfectly well, however I was (thoughout the day) informed each time they found something that was wrong with it.  In the end, they said that they HAD to replace the cam-belt, and drain the cooland and break fluid, and all that stuff.  So when I went to pick the car up at the end of the day, I was landed with a bill for around 800.  Not very happy with that since I only bought a year ago...  And the garage I bought it from sold me a car with a bloody bald spare tyre...   GROWL...

Also, the day after the service, I parked the car outside work as usual, did the whole daily work thing, finished work, tried to drive home, however the car wounld't start - wouldn't even turn over.  Then had to get the roadside assistance people to come and help me - they jumpstarted the thing and told me my battery was dead.  So I bought a new battery, however I haven't had to install it yet as the car has had no problem starting since...

That and the fact that the car now doesn't drive properly - in 1st, 2nd, 3rd...  in fact, in all the gears (bar reverse I think) when my foot is pushing at a steady rate against the accelerator, the car is jumping forward, then slowing down, juddering - in short a nightmare to drive.

GROWL AGAIN!

On the plus since, the crack in my windscreen was completely ignored!!

(Crumps - that's the longest post I've ever submitted!)
