At the risk of starting a motangelist fatwa, can anyone explain to me what is wrong with driving in the middle lane at at least 70mph on a motorway?

PYSL all the way to the undertakers Or to 3 points

You clearly don't understand the law, I love people like you, the mental capacity of an 8 year old and the arrogance of the deluded
Question Author
are you referring to me?. Ok you lost the argument so you revert to insults. fair enough. The highway code is not law.

It's gone a bit quiet, perhaps the road to damascus is playing a part here! Come to me my children I forgive your previous malthoughts, discard your former motangelsta background and rise like a phoenix with new understanding, never again shall you cause accidents whilst leap frogging down the highway, you are saved!
Why not give it a rest, geezer?

You know that your pontifications on motorway driving and The Highway Code only find favour with a small minority on AnswerBank.

One could almost be persuaded that you make these posts to rattle more sensible drivers.
Question Author
who are these sensible drivers? Are they the ones that think driving at 30 on a motorway is not dangerous? Or that weaving in and out of the trucks is safer that not doing so. How many crashes have they had? I've had none. .... and once and for all I am not oldGeezer!
No, you're not and I never said that you were.

These sensible drivers will be the ones who don't constantly whinge about 'The Road' and 'The Rules thereof.....', or have been prosecuted for driving offences!
Just a thought.......

........if a footballer decided that he knew better than FIFA and decided to play according to his own rules, which were much more sensible, infinitely superior and considerably more convenient would you be upset if he got sent of the pitch??? I doubt it somehow.

We have a rule book for driving, the Highway Code. It may not be perfect or totally up to date but if as many of us as possible try to stick to it the roads are a safer place. The road is no place for freestyling.
Sorry eccles - you are making the mistake of introducing logic into an R1G thread - it will never work :+)

d xx
d9Geezer - you have just proved that you are the motor-evangelist in trying to convert those who follow the established rules of the road.

I'll pass on the offer of joining the phoenix flock if such conversion means appearing before 'the beak' as many times as you have while speeding along the Damascene highway.
Jeez Dave, what was I thinking of, me of the female persuasion wandering into motoring.

I'm back to the kitchen and housework threads....... ;-)

I'm surprised you could decipher my point through all the typos!
i d9 if your attitude to others when driving is the same as your attitude to others on here then i feel sorry for you. in a previous job i drove a wrecker collecting crashed motors driven by great drivers like yourself. I took the cars and the meat wagon took the stiffs.

Football has laws not rules, we are talking about a book that is approx 70% advice, not law written about 70 years ago. Who's trying to convert anyone? not me! I have been in court twice in 30 years, both times for speeding, I have never had a crash. I've been hit up the jaxy whilst at lights by idiots not looking where they are going and I was once in a breakdown truck taken out by a leap frogger but hey I survived!
'Football has laws not rules' I might be blonde and female but are you absolutely sure about that????
Question Author
So you're saying a person can be prosecuted for being offside?
Oh well my mistake.

At least the 'rules' in the highway code are upheld in a court though....
being in the left lane and going faster and passing traffic travelling in the middle lane is perfectly ok ... thats is just lane speeds - it is not undertaking.
undertaking is a specific manouvre.
Reiterate previous answers.....BECAUSE IT IS FOR OVERTAKING ONLY.
Question Author
Not true eccles. The highway code is a guide, some parts are law, most are not. Often in court the highway code can be used as an indicator but it is never "upheld" as there is nothing to up hold.

No chuck, the sport of Asociation football and indeed many others have LAWS in their definition. They are laws of the game, surprised I had to spell that out!
Question Author
correct flump1, I will overtake the next car I encounter. Finally someone sees!
