how much more expensive is it generally to have this option?

is it a set price, or a percentage of the original amount etc?

how is it calculated?

thanks

It shouldn't be that much more because you can only drive one car at a time and the cars you don't own will only be covered for third party.

thanks hc... if the other vehicle is uninsured, does that fact that you are driving it, and you are insured, make it insured for the time you are in it? or does it need to be insured in its own right by someone else?
Nooooooooooooooooo. The other car MUST be insured in its own right. If it wasn't, as soon as you parked up it would be uninsured (your insurance would only apply whilst you are driving it).
In any case, it would be constantly flagged by APR that the car is insured. Any car on the public highway must be taxed and insured in its own right.

ah yes of course. doh! im just trying to figure out how to get the new car home legally

thanks
Bet it depends on the age of the driver. It is included, without my asking, every time on mine. But I noticed that my daughter's insurance, at 24, has never had it included. There may be some reason that I can borrow a Ferrari but she can't, and that reason, at a guess, is the kind of expensive accident a youngster, with little experience, would be in with a fast car like that.
if you are insured BUT for another car, why not just phone insurers up and get temp cover for 24 hrs?

its probably easier to just transfer my current insurance over immediately as id have to do it as soon as i got back anyway, i just assumed itd take a bit of time to organise, and i wouldnt want to be hanging round the sellers house while its sorted haha
My insurance was switched to another car by one phonecall. They charge an admin fee though. It cost me £15.
Eeeek! The 'any other car' applies only to cars belonging to somebody else. As you bought the car, it wouldn't apply any way.
I'm collecting a new car at 11am on Saturday 30th June, I'm part exchanging my current car, I have instructed my current insurer to transfer to the new car at this time.
MASS...did they charge you for that?
When I picked up my new car I simply phoned my insurance company from the dealer and asked them to transfer the insurance over to the new car straight away, which they did so my new insurance commenced at 15:26 that day.

Of course I had to make sure my old car was off road at that time and I could no longer drive that after the transfer.
joko, I told you this on your other thread, I speak from experience.
Cost me £15 too BTW but that would have been charged even if I'd given them notice of the change.
I changed my insurance for the next day, and wasn't charged anything.
ummmm

You bet they did, admin charge of £25, money for old rope. At least I will be insured, what the dealer does with my old car is up to them. I'm also transferring insurer when current policy expires mid September.
insurance ...what's that ?

yes tony thanks, thats what i meant in my last post
No probs joko, There ain't no way around it I'm afraid.
my insurer 'double insures' both cars for 24 hrs, as you can never tell precisely what time these things will occur!
