Hi there Rocky dude.

You certainly seem to have diagnosed your' own fault correctly.

As regards price - gasket set / head skim / head bolts / oil / coolant / labour. Probably around 350 ish.

You could always put a new cam belt on at the same time if it hasn't been changed recently.

Best regards

.... providing the OP has some mechanical aptitude.... possibly / possibly not.

I would however skim the head, as it has almost certainly warped and needs to be-faced. Seems pointless to do the job and then do it again not-many-miles later for the sake of 35 pounds.

thanks guys, if it is around 350 i think i will get it the head gasket replaced and that
better off getting it skimmed, I replaced my girlfriends head on a 2000 punto without having it done, and ****** me it went again 10,000 miles later. Save yourself any future problems and get it skimmed, while the head is off its always advisable to slap a new cam belt on too.
Good job.

i would do the water pump while your in there, sometimes a brand new timing belt thats tensioned properly can put extra strain on the water pump, again youll get one for around 20/30 quid and aonly takes a few minutes to replace as youll need to remove the timing belt anyway
