usually you would get an indicator, maybe loss of coolant, loss of performance , oily residue in the header tank. usually you would get a sign. unless the engine has overheated to the extent it has blown the gasket.
If you mean by "warning signals" lights on the dash then yes.
No, you get warning signs, residue, lights on dash etc. after its blown
