Daihatsu Terios

The missus has her heart set on one now that her Fiesta is tired and the scrapyard is calling. She wants a 1.3 4-wheel-drive model from '99 to '03 as we live on a steep hill that is difficult to negotiate in a 2 wheel drive car in Winter. Are there any particular faults these suffer from that I should look out for?

Can't comment on that model but I'd recommend Daihatsu as a make to anyone.

My first car was a Charade, 1 litre, 3 (yes, THREE) cylinder engine. Lasted me ten years, did countless miles back and to to Germany, holidays in Cornwall etc.
Had to change the back box on it twice, the only money I ever had to spend outside the usual expenses.

Thanks Philtaz, just hope I'm with her when she buys it or she'll end up with a heap of junk like the Fiesta she bought while I was abroad. I don't know what part of "wait 'till I get home" she didn't understand.

There won't be much improvement in snow unless you buy 4 new properly treaded tyres for use in the snow.

4 Wheel drive will always be more expensive for very little use.
