I know FAO's are frowned upon, but this has been bugging me for a couple of days and I saw Tilly was on a thread which I didn't want to side-track.
Tills, did you ever find a man/company to refurbish your late dad's lamp? x

We have got one that has been made into a cigarette lighter and one that has been converted to electric. We have several more just in a box in the cellar. Mr BD has spent some time taking one apart and cleaning it up and we are taking it to France as a present for our friends who live over there.
It's the Protector Lamp Company that I'm sending it to BD. It was dad's lamp when he was at work and it's very precious to me. I hope they will do a good job of bringing it back into working order. I'm sure they will. I do take it apart and clean it now and again but I don't keep it gleaming. Gleaming doesn't seem right.
Of course you will keep your dad's lamp. That is precious to you. Mum collected these over the years. She knew the family very well and worked for them for some years and I went to school with a couple of the younger ones. Its only a 10-15 min walk from our house so might be worth a stroll down one day. Where are you situated? Is it too far for you to visit them?
