Does anyone else watch this? I discovered it only recently and it's a joy. Informative and interesting, it's an opportunity to join Prunella Scales and her husband of over 50 years, Timothy West, on their expeditions, mostly by narrow boat, along the peaceful canals of Britain, visiting places of interest en route. Sadly Pru is now in the early stages of dementia but nevertheless continues enthusiastically to do her bit as Skipper's mate, tea maker, drinks pourer, and chief lock (the watery type!) opener. If you're ever having a stressful day, I highly recommend an hour with the delightful Pru and Tim. It's the perfect antidote.

I've been a fan of the series since the first episode of series 1. Delightful
Yes, a wonderful series.
I've enjoyed the programme from the start but TW can't steer can he?
I love this, I have watched them all.
Did anyone watch a BBC 4 programme about the Kennet and Avon canal last year. There was no commentary and no incidental music. It was just a 2hr documentary about the waterway, any information was given in subtitles, so you had to concentrate.

yes. it was one of a series of 5 similar shows under the banner "BBC4 Goes Slow", including a 2 hour sleigh ride in Norway, and a tour around the national gallery.
Now showing is a re-run of Series 2 on Channel 4 (Saturdays).
The main reason I buy (yes, really) a copy of Radio Times every week....we never miss anything worth watching (or worth listening to). There are lots of worthwhile programmes...if only people were clued up, well in advance.
Thoroughly enjoyed he series and happily watching the repeats.
I saw the sleigh ride, the potter and knife maker, but missed the national gallery programme. Was it any good?
//Was it any good? //

i can't say - i'm not a lover of museums, etc at the best of times.
One of the few programmes worth watching on tv.
I have been enjoying these programs for ages now. They are a wonderful couple. I have seen Timothy in the theatre a few times over the years, and Prunella is one of my favourite Radio 4 Extra people, with Marriage Lines, etc.

Lets hope they make some more please !

One thing I hadn't realised is how neglected and mistreated some sections of our canals have become. Very sad. Hopefully programmes like this will encourage some interest in them.
