I'm looking forward to this !

It should be wonderful, given that Andrew Davies is the screenwriter. He has given us some marvelous Dickens adaptations in the past.

Anybody going to tune in ?

excerpts look spectacular, cast looks good as well
When does it finish. This time next year ? :-)
Yes, definitely. Looking forward to it.
There seems to be changes in the storylines-an incest plot?
I'm looking forward to it too. I saw the Russian film version in the 70's over two nights, 2 four hour plus sections. The battle scenes had the Red Army in their thousands it seemed, as extras. Pretty spectacular. So many main characters to keep tabs on. We'll need to pay attention :)
As I posted in another thread fans of the novel are likely to be disappointed.
Looks like Davies, who'd never read the novel, has basically used it as an excuse to show off
So while it may be very entertaining it probably won't be for purists
nope, didn’t like the book, didn’t think the trailers were tempting.

No way, don't like Dickens so won't be bothering with it
lol baldric but do you like Tolstoy?
Andrew Davies has basically said that the book is rubbish and so are all previous film versions. Tolstoy is basically Tolstoy and Davies is Davies and ne'er the twain shall meet I suppose. I have no doubt it will be quite fun.
The best TV adaptation of a classic novel I have seen funnily enough was a Russian TV Master and Margarita, which was faithful to the book scene by scene and line by line! W and P is s different kettle of fish to M and M of course tho
1) I shall be setting a series link on Tivo and will also watch.
2) I soooo hope Baldric is kidding ;)

Blimey where'd the come from?
I was looking along the bookshelf in the study, think we've got a copy somewhere, was working my way past OH's Dickens collection while I was typing, guess it's infectious!
;o)
You should try reading those books, balders.;O)

Svejk. how do you think I know I don't like them?
I'll series record it too, then watch at my leisure.
I'm going to watch it to br entertained, not necessarily to be educated too.
Yes I'll be following this mikey!
"He's used it an excuse to show off."

The adaptor has been doing that since time immemorial.
No, it doesn't appeal to me. I saw an adaptation a long time ago, don't feel the need to watch this one. I shall be watching Endeavour instead.
I'll be watching Mikey. I haven't read the book so I have no expectations. Simply watching because I like period drama and also James Norton.:-) x
