I've got that on my 'to perhaps watch later' (via iPlayer) list, as it looked interesting. Are you saying that I shouldn't bother?

I'd never advise anyone not to watch a programme - one man's meat is another man's poison.

I couldn't determine a story line, I think I was expecting a murder somewhere along the line.
Hc.....tonight was my flop in front of the TV night and I'd earmarked that......I lasted five minutes... doing the ironing seemed preferable...x
I have always found both the characters and the storylines tedious.
I loved it!

Did Steve Pemberton agree to write it on the understanding that he would have a part in it? Mark Gatiss (also from League of Gentlemen) was also in it, and he is also very often in what he writes (like Sherlock). Nice work if you can get it!
If anyone (who missed it the other day) wants a recommendation for some really great viewing, take a look at 'That Day We Sang'.

There's some brilliant acting from both Imelda Staunton and Michael Ball, but they're still outclassed by a superb performance from young Harvey Chaisty. (NB: It's a bit of a slow starter but give it 10 minutes and you'll be hooked!):
Sorry Chris, but how does the saying go...."it wouldn't do for us all to like the same things"....lol ;)
I always find myself feeling slightly embarrassed when actors suddenly break into song out of the blue.....:-/

The Day We Sang......now that was well worth watching...x
I've just given up on The Big a Quiz of the Year ( or summink like that). Absolutely tosh.
i didn't watch Mapp And Lucia but the majority of comments on twitter (which can go either way) are positive
...just had a look at listing for that Quiz.....Jimmy Carr, Micky Flanagan,Sarah Millican.......I think not....
Well I loved it and thought it got better the longer it went on. Saw the first series in the 80s with Prunella Scales as Miss Mapp and have all of E F Benson's books.

Great to see Miss Mapp who drips with bitchiness and malice being put down so elegantly by Lucia. I'm really sorry people here aren't enjoying it, it has collected really good reviews from the critics. Oh well, can't please all of the people etc ...
@ladybirder....yay!! A kindred spirit! I really enjoyed the 1985 TV series also.

I loved 'That day we sang' I recorded it to keep and watch again, a thing I very rarely do :0)
Indeed Bathsheba. Another two episodes to look forward to. I did love Nigel Hawthorn as Georgie, wish he was still around.

Au reservoir LOL. XX
Boring.................won't watch any more.
yes, thought "that day we sang" was a stunner.
ladybirder, Mr Q and I loved it too. I think I even preferred it to the earlier version with Geraldine McEwan and Prunella Scales and that was great. Brilliant acting and writing. Hope there is a series and not just 3 episodes. Au reservoir!!!
I think that Mapp and Lucia is one of the funniest programs on TV for a long time. It also looks marvelous, so what's not to like ?
