Does Series 2 follow on from Series 1 or is it a completely different story? ( I have watched most of series 1 but am waiting for episode 9 from a friend before I can go on to watch the rest of the series - it may be some time before I get hold of episode 9, meanwhile I have series 2 waiting for me on bbc iplayer)

It is completely different story, although the previous series is alluded to. Lund is working as a border guard after being sacked, and there are references to her blunders in the first series.
Series 2 is fantastic, and runs at a quicker pace than the first (it is half the episodes). You have to keep watching though or you will find it difficult to follow.
