I know it's only fictitious, but the script writers are just so ignorant of how schools are run, what you can and can't do, LEA'S, etc. The whole thing is getting to me now!!! I watch it and am driving Mr LL nutty complaining about all the mistakes whilst I am supposedly enjoying watching it.

I used to quite like it. It is totally ridiculous now!

Anyone agree?

I totally agree with you. I was a teacher for many years and although I didn't watch Waterloo Road at first I did get into some later series (when Neil Morrisey (?) was in it and the first head left). However watching the first episode of the new series last week it was absolutely ridiculous - the behaviour in the staff room was particularly unreal, an insult to most teachers. I too was moaning to my OH about it and didn't bother to watch this week.
After reading..It`s your time you`re wasting by Frank Chalk it is probably true to life. This is the story of everyday life in todays schools and was certainly an eye opener.I got my copy from the Library.

I worked in schools for ten years!! Am now retired. And the last school had a great deal of problems, both with pupils and students. The teachers and staff would not be allowed to act the way the staff act on Waterloo road. There is something called an LEA and there are Governors to answer to. They seem to make their own decisions at Waterloo Road. They take on the roles of police and social workers. And no teacher would be giving lifts to students if they value their jobs. It is totally not true to life.

The last series was good (yes the one with Neil Morrisey Prudie) and more realistic. This series is just way out!!

Just here arranging your desks and putting an Maths problem on the board which you can be working on until my arrival. School milk is in a crate next to the radiator. Help yourself!!
Hi all, that is why our schools over here worked so much better. LLess rules, and much more respect for each other. (Obviously the ,ittle ones had to have a few more rules cos they were still learning)

Were you a teacher Lottie?

Anyway it's now 100° in the shade, can't breathe, am sitting in bedroom with the fan on, I leave the air con until later as it's so expensive to run!
Yeuk! Hate maths, I'm with swedie on this one, hate numbers. I'll clean the blackboard! Miss here's an apple x

No, just a very overworked HT's PA, plus everything else. You couldn't see me for paperwork in the last couple of years and the Head was fiddling the books. Horrible. Started off in primary education where I was the dogsbody, Secretary, finance officer, playground assistant, welfare, teaching assistant................... and ended up in secondary school which was awful. And teachers moan, moan, moan about their workload and left on the dot of 3.30pm. Sometimes I didn't get home to about 8.00pm. Teachers treated non teaching staff like the dirt beneath their feet. I know you taught Neti, but I bet you were lovely.

Now where are the others.................. Get cracking on that Maths Neti. I know you love it!!
Question Author
Sit down, Neti, stop talking and get on with your work!!

Thanks for the addresses Neti. I had them all the time just didn't recognise them as being Jude and Woofy!! Hope I haven't forgotten anybody else.
perhaps someone can educate me:

We have this bird feeder

http://www.gardenvisi...irrel-bird-feeder.jpg

though we didn't get the free squirrel. One of the birds who dines there is a tit who's an extremely messy eater, spills 6 seeds for every one he eats. (In fact he actually seems to be throwing them away, so perhaps he's just fussy.) Result is seed all over the rim and on the ground below and pigeons come to devour it all. One even manages to poke his neck through the bars and eat from the feeder itself.

I don't want to feed pigeons, but I like the (tidy) tits and wrens and our robin. Is there anything to be done with messy tit and greedy pigeon? Sign outside saying 'Fine dining only', different sort of feed for them, Kalashnikov?
Same with caged birds jno, seed all over the place. You'll have to get one of those horrible plastic things

http://featherfantasy...tcher%20on%20cage.jpg

I will refuse to acknowledge you if you use one of these.
Oh no... back to school is the last place I wanted to go. I hated every second of it. 'Cept cleaning the blackboard (snap Neti) and illustrating biblical stories that the teacher read out loud, and writing essays, and going for outings. Other than that, it was total crip.

Hope all has gone well for mr S today. I loved all your photos and things, Neti I like your house. Cuuute pumpkin Robi, hilarious revenge of the cat Vinny, beautiful flowers Jude, loved the piccies of your piles jno- ...no wait, that was over the email, sorry jno I shouldn't have mentioned those photos on here. Not that I don't love the end result but still I don't know why you didn't go for the lolcat method, it would have been that much faster http://i37.tinypic.com/20z7mg1.jpg ...he he he, I am joking of course and I'll get out of jno's behind now.

This is the cafe where my friend and I went yesterday http://i38.tinypic.com/16h5iio.jpg Doesn't show on these pictures but they have half a wall with trompe l'œil wallpaper that looks like books on a shelf like you're in you're own private library, and that corner of the cafe has been furnished with easy chairs. We had chèvre salad with walnuts and bulgur and fresh green herbs and dijon dressing, extremely yummy. That reminds me, thanks Woofy for telling me how to treat a pumpkin:) What's 'blitz', in this context - is it 'go at it with a hand blender'?

and back into jno's derrière we go - it's high life in there! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DwajvDYd728
Question Author
jno, I have heard that cheap dog biscuits scattered on the ground in a neglected corner perhaps well away from the bird feeders will keep the pigeons very happy and away from the feeders. I have only heard this, so don't take my words. In fact I think I saw it on this very site. I actually don't mind my pigeons, but they are posh wood pigeons and not the commonal town variety, which incidentally are descended from rock doves and are a different species.

That is your lesson today.

School is now dismissed and you can all do as you like, except for Neti who has detention for not doing the maths on the board.

Hi Swedie, I wasn't very taken with school either. Loved English, Maths and Art and didn't like much else, especially sports!!! Hated wearing a uniform and hated the "all girls together" thing. Was very glad to leave.

Went to a Pasta Italia in Cambridge and it was decorated with lots of clever trompe l'œil painting. Very, very effective.
"Cotton Eye Jno" I should have said, but forgot.

I didn't do them either Miss Lottie, but I have put a multiplication table applet on my desktop for practise!
Just found me badge, I was a prefect for green house
http://homepage.ntlwo...fect-badge-green.jpeg

Crikey I saw tidy tits and backed out again, I thought it was a requirement :o)
Sorry jno, not a lot you can do, my birds have been battling it out for years and they all seem to get a piece of the action somehow. We've got a lovely flock of sparrows that have considerably increased in numbers this yr...about 20 were trying to bath at the same time this morning, it was so funny, I love them, humble as they are.

<put's hand up>
Sorry I'm late, I went in the garden to do a speed weed...no not a speed wee, that's what you do when you sneeze...oh heck...
<waves hand> can I go for a wee please?
<with any luck I can leg it over the wall, I hate school>

Can someone email this address to Vinny, I haven't obviously got his right address and he is feeling very left out over on the old thread!

Did you mistake it for 'tiny tits' Robbie?

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
haha, that's the phrase I use to my sister when something's getting on my nerves...'it's gettin' on me tiny tits....'
oh no, just watched Kit's video, will we be doing country dancing when it rains? ...better than bloomin hockey I suppose.
I have mailed him Lottie, bout 20 mins ago
