Does anyone else find it funny how the USA has made films that simply aren't historically correct? a good example is U-571 can anyone else name some more?

ET, 2001, 2010, Airplane, The Invasion of the Bodysnatchers, The Thing, Star Wars, and thousands of other fictional films.

How about Robin Hood Prince of Thieves when they landed on the south coast and walked to Nottingham in 1 day?? The accents used were also from all over the UK. Very strange.

so, the British do all their films historically corect? Films are a form of art, and therefore the writer to begin with, director, editor are going to give the movie their personal touch; these people are not historians, they are entertainers. This reminds me of when I went back to Uruguay, and everybody was complaining to me about how inaccurate the Alive movie had been made. Movies are only based on a real fact, and you are going to find some little twists and some big twists, Farendheit 9/11 is a case in point. What about the Rambo film (I've never seen it, so i don't know the number) where the US win the Viet Nam war? Let's face it, Hollywood has never allowed history, or indeed facts, to get in the way of a good movie.

Well worder, we have probably made films that aren't historically correct too i think zulu wasn't exactly the exact truth. But it seems to me like American films are deliberately distorted so that they have a good chance of being the next blockbuster at the box office.

The British were good at nicking other countries war stories too - watch pow movie "Albert RN". And no acknowledgement that that the Dutch actually did it (from Colditz) at the end either!
