Best twist to a film

What is the best ever twist to a film?


It has to be The Usual Suspects dosn't it?

I haven't seen the Usual Suspects, so I can't judge that one (it is odd that you seem to be assuming that we are going to give one particular answer, instead of thinking for ourselves).

I think ithe best was the one in The Sixth Sense. I saw the film without knowing that there was going to be a twist, and without having heard anything about it. Since I saw the film, I have read about many people having their experience of the film being ruined by idiots blurting out the twist before they have had a chance to see the film.

Best twist was Physco.
When it was in the cinema in the old days no-one was allowed in once the film had started.
Only problem is the twist I thought was so good that I have never watched it again as I know what happened. Rgds Al

That's the trouble with twisted endings, once you've seen the film you can never watch it again in the same way. I would suggest 'The Sting' and 'Don't Look Now'.

I would say The Usual Suspects actually, there isn't a lot of films that spring to mind with good twists at the end.

not really sure on a decent one. Sixth Sense and Usual Suspects were both obvious.

A 'really good twist' shouldn't mean you can't watch the movie over & over again. I regualrly watch 'The Sixth Sense' as I find things I didn't notice in earlier viewings. It is definatley a movie to watch at least twice ~ just so you can recall what has happened & make sure that what you thought you saw was what you really did see ;o)

The Usual Suspects is cool, as is 'Ghost Ship' (the movie itself wasn't that great, but the ending was superb) I will also agree with 'Don't Look Now'..the ending of that movie really makes you gasp!

I will have to put my thinking head on for others.

Dead mans shoes has a pretty good twist to it, as does memento, agree that usual suspects is good too. Actually, the more I think of it the more I think memento has some of the best twists and you do need to watch that over and over again!

I would say Vanishing Act, an 80s film with Margot Kidder. It's a remake of a film I saw when I was so young I had to go to bed before the end. It took over ten years before I came across the remake. I never even considered the ending. It was a huge surprise, fantastic film.

What about The Empire Strikes Back! That blew me away ( i was very young i have to add!) when Vader announces Luke im your father.
I was in a state of shock along with many others!
Not sure it counts as a twist but i wasnt expecting it!

Agree wit The Village - but also the much underrated Identity. Cracking ending.

the village? really? i know everyone's entitled to their own opinions, but i have to strongly disagree and say that the village was the most ridiculous film i have ever seen - i laughed all the way through! sorry - i know some people like it, i just really didn't!

its not really a twist, but the biggest surprise i got was in sum of all fears when the nuke exploded - i really thought they'd save the day before it went off - it completely threw me!

and also arlington road has a GREAT ending - highly recommend that film if you haven't seen it it is awesome!

I guessed the Village and Sixth sense. No one has mentioned SAW or maybe im just morbid. I do love the Usual Suspects though, I didnt see that coming at all, Gabriel Byrne.mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
