Sister has lost her only son/child 19 years ago.  My loved friend who lives in Australia came home for her brother's dying death but survived (brother)

Friend visited today and to me asked questions from sister about her beloved son - too many.    My sister and I never talk about it and I have told friend this over the years that we don't talk about it.

But today friend questioned sister -"are you happy" - "do you like living here etc etc".

I can't believe this all happened.  I took sister and  friend home - sister was upset at these questions and so am I.

Do you think friend was wrong and I can't see it.  thanks for any answers.

Can I confirm that you and your sister do not talk about your sister's son but today your friend asked your sister about her son and if your sister was happy in her life. Might your friend be lonely and feeling fearful that her brother might die soon and she will be in Australia and not be with him. Could your friend want to know how you both coped with the death of her son and your nephew in preparation of her brother dying

sorry calmc - no

Hi JJ. I'm a tad confused too. The friend is visiting from Australia yes? Is she staying with you? She was asking you questions about your sisters deceased son - was your sister there when she was asking these things?

After 19 years it's not an unreasonable expectation that someone would want to remember a dead loved one,  and I think the underlying need to know how you carry on from someone who has lived through it is possibly the driver.

I think you are reading too much into it.

Your friend was seeking solace imho
