I have one myself, and would like to buy it for my daughters b/day.

Would anybody know if this would work in Australia, as I am getting different answers on their website?

Thanks.

Can't see why not, mine works in Germany.

If I am understanding matters correctly, it will work in Germany and a few other countries. However, I don't think it could be used in Australia if bought on your UK Amazon account.

Perhaps the following link will explain the position better than I am able to. ?

Thanks so much Hans, very helpful. T
his is an answer I had from an Amazon customer today.

# "I don't think you would be able to view a range of regionally licensed Amazon content. The Stick will probably still work but your available content may be severely restricted. see this link: https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=201624360 Many of the regular channel apps such as BBC iPlayer, ITV hub, All4 also likely that the content will be restricted regionally." #

Very confusing but helpful.

Ooops, think its the same.

Can you not get someone in Australia to buy it for you and they could send it on to your daughter.

Are you able to purchase via the Amazon Australia site?
I will admit to knowing nothing about Fire Sticks, but I do purchase a lot of items on Amazon; some of which are delivered to other people.

However I do Not think that the item which you wish to send as a present to your daughter is as simple as an electric kettle; which is a straight plug-in item.

It is my thought that your daughter would require her own account with Amazon to be able to use the Fire Stick.

Re Han's answer, above.....when ordering from Amazon, you are asked if the device is for yourself or for a gift. If the latter, they do not register the device to you, but the recipient registers it in their name on receipt.
Interesting what you say gingejbee because I have never been asked if an item is for myself or a gift to the addressee for whom I wish an item to be sent. Do you have an Amazon link to confirm your information. ?

Hans.
Hans...it only applies to Amazon devices that need linking to an account....not general purchases. I know this because I've just bought the newly released 7th generation Fire tablet and was asked (on ordering) "is this a gift?" - with an explanatory note at the side.
Incidentally (back to the OP's question).....doesn't look as if Australia is a "supported country" as far as Fire TV is concerned...so, won't work!
