Can I ask you what you thought was the worst programme on over Christmas? I think definitely Blankety Blank!! It was TRULY AWFUL. I lost the will to live in it. Him indoors disagrees. He says Birds of a Feather was worse.

I can't list what was rubbish as I wouldn't have watched what I don't like as a rule.

Loved:

Alan Bennett's Diaries
Lady in the van
Dr Who
Grantchester
Call the Midwife
Maigret
A few of the UC Specials as they are fun and different.

No doubt other things I enjoyed too but haven't brought to mind.
Jackdaw, you are not alone, I too have never seen The Sound of Music, nor for that matter, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, or an episode of Coronation Street or the Eastenders (and I've been around long enough to remember them starting).
I didn't watch much TV over Christmas but tuned in full of hope to watch Blackadder and wish I hadn't, it was terrible.
So tonight it will be back to the box set of House of Cards.
I tried to sit through An Audience with Victoria Wood last night. Adverts every 5mins made it unwatchable.
Switched over to Outnumbered, which proved good child actors don't always make good adult ones.
Just wondering, did the Germans work it out this time or did the Nuns manage to disable the cars again.Hellywelly,I thought Call the Midwife was excellent.
Ref: Sound of Music
I have not seen Blankety Blank before...what an utter rubbishy programme!!!!!
Only watched it whilst killing time till my programme came on...
OH & I bored stiff,fell asleep
We're watching something recorded yesterday: Rita Moreno, a few hoofers and a bit of background music.
Was it a documentary on West Side Story, saw that, very good.
No, the whole film, Kloofnek.
Did see the behind the scenes program about Nutcracker. Lovely made-for-TV version of the ballet by an American company. Was that last Christmas, or earlier?
More Memory Lane ramblings. Anyone remember Bernstein (on TV) trying to coach Carreras on how to sing one of the big numbers? Sr C got right p****d off.
i saw that too
Actually, when I think about it, the box set House of cards is getting a bit weird too, in the last episode Francis (the chief protagonist) started kissing his bodyguard while the bodyguard kissed his (Francis') wife, Oh dear, things didn't use to be like this.
I've recorded the classic western 'The Searchers' maybe I'll watch that, always safe with big John Wayne - none of that nonsense!
I well remember Bernstein shouting at Carreras, who lost his temper and walked out of the studio...God...that was some years ago when I watched that.
The song was "Maria"...
"The Searchers"? Was that Natalie Wood too?

Anything with the Walliams wallah has got to godawful. He makes me cringe. // Wouldn't he make a splendid Dickens Uriah Heep The Creep ?

I must be the only person alive who has never seen the Sound of Music. It is my proud boast, and one I wish to take to my grave. // If you supply your details it can be arranged to be shown at your funeral.
One of the programmes I did enjoy was part 1 ''The Witness for the Prosecution'' last night, 2nd part tonight.
