I agree. The first two episodes were slow. It has picked up now though.
Completely agree...we're hooked!
Junkies!... Like me.
Terrific stuff, I'll be sorry when it finishes.
"I`ll be sorry when it finshes" So will I.
really good

Makes Thos C look too human tho.
I think that he really was the King's pit bull and nothing else

Oh and Thos More would not have had his back to the window with one candle - the table would have been against the window
Oh and anne B doesnt ever wear her favourite colour ( black ) it drives me crazy

PP....I am sure that I have seen Anne Boleyn in Wolf Hall wearing black, in previous episodes. Perhaps I am mixing her up with others, but the frocks are marvelous !

I always thought the AB had 6 fingers on her right hand, but there is no sign in the TV series. It would be easy to do this digitally these days.
I am mesmerised by Mark Rylance! Must get the book off the shelf and read it - a few friends said it's a difficult read, others enthused.

jogasun....I wish you every success with the books. Personally I think they are very nearly unreadable. Her style of writing is extremely long-winded and confusing, using constant "flashbacks" in time. Pages can go by without her starting a new paragraph. In my humble opinion, Mantell needs a good Editor !

Let us know how you get on.

For far more readable books from a similar period, I can't recommend C J Sansom ::::::

I'm enjoying it as well although I keep having to pause the credits to see who is actually being portrayed. I got confused with Margaret Pole and the other older lady being questioned.
Thanks for the warning mikey. Will give it a go and let you know!

Best of luck yogasun !
I always thought the view that Mary was Henry's mistress before Anne was a bit of propaganda - also the idea they were both a little bit naughty at the french court too
Hi all, regarding AB six fingers, I have read that this was never a fact, she probably did have the usual 5, but the 6 fingers was a story spread by those that wanted her gone to speed up her downfall, I guess we will never know for sure.
On the strength of the good reports about the series, I downloaded both books, Wolf Hall and Bringing Up The Bodies and yes have to agree that they are very long winded, containing lots of flash backs. I struggled through a few chapters but have given up, I too would agree that there are a lot of much more readable books, but if anyone can recommend me any about Thomas Cromwell himself I would be grateful as all I have read are about Henry VIII himself.
I have to say though that I am not enjoying Wolf Hall as much as I hoped, I am finding it very dry and a bit dreary in places, I am not sure if I am going to continue watching which will be a shame as I was very much looking forward to the series. From most of you posting your thoughts it seems I will be in the minority though!
mikey - I have read both sets of books more than once and enjoyed them both. look forward to seeing wolf hall each just wish thos c. was a bit heavier as I have long been led to believe he was a bit chunky, not fat just bigger.
