What an awe inspiring programme, Simon truly deserved this accolade his portrait definitely told a story. Some of the scenes in the show were harrowing to overcome such adversity is brilliant!

Just shows what a truly nice man he is, he was very good looking forward the accident, but that didn't make him bitter, so he is nice inside too.
I didn't see the programme but the portrait was very good. He does seem like a nice man, and strangely I'm used to seeing him as he looks now.

i remember the news coverage of the incident in the falklands (32 years ago) that disfigured him - and i have watched a few documentaries about him since then - - his recognition now is thoroughly merited
Yes he is absolutely the right person to have his portrait hung in the NPG. So pleased he was chosen. Not sure him and his mum really liked it though. I'm sure they liked the honour but the portrait??
Wonderful portrait of a wonderful person
I thought it was a really good portrait, very lifelike and seemed to give him a thoughtful look. He is a very brave man and has helped other people come to terms with disfigurement.
Brilliant. Very touching at times.
I can add nothing more to the comments already posted. Wonderful man and an inspiration to us all. So many good men and women were killed or maimed during that time and they are all heroes. I like Simon Weston. He's one of the few people in this world I would really like to meet. I wish him well for the future. He seems like a happy and contented man now.
