It matters not whether they win or lose, the tears run down their cheeks, this is a new phenomenon it seems, because I can never remember it happening on such occasions in the past.

Since the death of Princess Di the nation seems to have become more emotional, why is this?

More estrogen and estrogen making compounds has been found in our drinking water which is down to chemicals in our water and air.

This has only occurred recently due to the factory age and global warming
I cry just watching it. I think it's my hormones.
It's more than likely because it's become more permissible to show emotion, or express feelings. That's not a bad thing in my book.
Tears of pain & joy. Finis coronat opus.
I don't know why, but in the days of the stiff upper lip we won an empire. No blubbing then.
It's the release of all the tension - and thank goodness they do, there's nothing wussy about crying with joy.
Yes, the death of Princess Di was a watershed in our nation's display of emotions. We seemed to be mourning for months after that one.

Are you serious?
that was when the Queen starting showing us her human side too - she never used to let any emotion show, she does now.
Yeah, she looked very emotional at the opening ceremony.
Bored is an emotion, too, MT....
A sense of achievement, pride? There's nothing wrong with a few tears.. we're only human.
if you read your Mail more assiduously you'd know that Churchill cried plenty

A noble role model for the modern British athletes, I'm sure you'll agree.
Imagine all this without the emotional tears. It`s a joy to share.

Not too sure about the Empire bit and no blubbing Sandy. Might have been a few tears somewhere. :-)
Did you not feel even the slightest bit of emotion/pride when Jessica Ennis and Mo Farah won gold for Great Britain, AOG? (Not forgetting Greg Rutherford of course)
Hardly new, Gazza was clubbing 22 years ago. And I remember a Wimbledon winner having a good cry.
Sorry, AOG, she was NOT princess DI; she was Diana, the Princess of Wales...........and yes, there was a difference.
I seem to be on form with my typos today.

Meant Gazza blubbing, but I bet he was clubbing as well.
If he'd done a bit less clubbing then he might not be in the sorry state he finds himself in now.
1992 and the Duchess of Kent. A nice moment.
