What do do with old vhs tapes?

Charity shops do not want them. There appears to be no market on ebay. They cannot be put out for recycling. Seems wasteful to send them for landfill. Any other ideas?

No, and I've got loads of the things.
Haven't thought about it but being all plastic why can't they be recycled
Pull out all the tape and stuff it into a beanbag :-)
...or roll around in it naked shouting "technology! technology! ..stop the world, I wanna get off!"
Bin!
Sometimes you just have to let go. Put them in the bin and start to plan what you're going to do with all those CDs soon enough.
Only one charity shop near me still take VHS tapes. Others can't even give the things away. Me, I keep mine as the grandkids still watch them.
i dumped them ages ago in a skip, the best place for them.
Seriously though, you could try to offer them up on Freegle (formerly Freecycle).
you could convert them to cd's. A friend of mine dosen't want to get rid of her
tapes as she has hours of pictures of her children growing up and other special family occasions.
We have every Disney film on VHS still play them.....why throw them?
"Why throw them"? They are bulky, you have to re-wind and fast forward them, the picture quality is questionable, they break, they look sh!t on pause, they rattle and they smell !
good for lighting the bbq
What are you pausing AP ?
You can dress up as the Betamax Bandit for Halloween... It's obviously not betmax but noone will be able to tell the difference!!
Car boot sales always find somebody who will want videos especially Disney
classics, Godfather, Shawshank Redemption etc.
Check out your local Council recycling centre. Our`s takes VHS tapes.
you can pull out the tape and use as string/plant ties etc

only one really of course - unless you have tonnes of plants...

or weave the tape into bags ... seen one actually, was quite nice

check out instructables.com, they probably have ideas on there
Gawd! I LOVED the Disney Christmas video when the kids were wee. That one deserves a place on a shelf. :)
about a hundred years ago I saw where a television station melted all their old tape down and made a statue like thing of their logo from a mould of it .So you could make wonderful tropheis etc from them
