but the whole thing is so odd! It's more like gymnastics, and what is with those awful outfits??!!
I've taped it for my G/daughters, (5 & 7) I thought they may like it.

Don't you think I should let them watch it then?

Jem
I saw the programme content listed in the Radio Times and decided that there was little point in watching it as I could imagine it all for myself. (Having been a teacher I'm all too familiar with pushy and misguided parents). However, through watching the preceding program, I did catch the first few minutes. It confirmed everything that I thought it would be. (Without wishing to seem 'snobbish', the accents of the doting mothers did seem to suggest that they were nearly all from "a certain section of society"!).
Some of them does look like a drag queen!!
How Chris?
Ummmm:
I've nothing against council estates. I was brought up on one and I taught some fantastic kids (with wonderful parents) in a school which served the largest council estate in Europe.

However there are certain council estates which attract TV documentary makers there, to show us all how certain people live their lives in a way which is vastly different from 'middle class norms'. What I saw of that program suggested that quite a few of the families might well come from such areas.
I think I'll have to have a look for myself& judge from that.
Chris I know what you mean... ThanQ.

Can you tell the difference between a lower class NI accent and a middle class one?
I saw a bit of it, worse than that American tiara thingy on tv!

Felt sorry for the kids being pushed by the parents and then let down when they didn't win.
It was just awful...my heart went out to the poor child who was on antibiotics for a kidney infection when her mother said 'I've told her she doesn't dance on her kidneys, she dances on her feet'.
Those poor girls-what pushy mothers! The make up and costumes were ridiculous ( and the cost of them). It is a very 'odd' hobby-not really dancing- the music didnt matter. I felt sorry for the girl with eczema who still had to have a spray tan.
These parent really need to be educated!!! This is not the way to boost their childrens confidence. really sad ;((
Hadn't heard of it before and it was in a very similar vein to Toddlers & Tiaras. What I found most pointless of all was the actual 'dancing'. It wasn't disco just a bunch of girls told to run round a room leaping in the most maniacal fashion they could, That poor thing that was totally exhausted.
My overall view was that none of the kids seemed to really want to be doing it.
