Passive smoking does not cause any illnesses or deaths, as claimed by the govt. Why does the govt perpetuate this myth?

A courageous question. Do you really think though that you are going to get anything other than the righteous and indignant evangelists? You might as well have mentioned golliwogs.

Another smoker in denial
Regardless of subject matter, why would any government change the habit of their "lifetime" ??
Can you give me a link to any evidence you may have, that gave you reason to start this stupid post lease. ?
so why do so many smokers have kids with asthma?
so why do so many non-smokers have kids with asthma?

if you sit two people in a garage and one is smoking the worst that will happen to the non-smoker is maybe some eye irritation from the cigarette smoke. If you sit two people in a garage with a car running and the exhaust blowing into the garage your going to have two dead bodies before long.

I'm not too bothered as to whether it causes illness or not....I just do not want to breath someone elses smoke in an enclosed space. They choose to smoke...I choose not to.
Sitting in an enclosed space with a few smokers not only makes you reek of it when you come out, but can irritate sensitive eyes and set off bouts of asthma and coughing in susceptible people. Carbon monoxide is just one of 3000 toxins in cigarettes, and can't do ANYONE any good.
I don't mind if others want to smoke, but it's not my idea of fun.
As a smoker that never smokes in front of others, except outdoors, i see some reason in 10ClarionsSt post.

Smoking is a dirty, smelly habit that shouldn't be forced on others, but i don't think it's to blame for all societies ills.

I grew up in the 70's/80's when smoking at home was so common, but i knew of very few that had asthma.

Why is it so common today when fewer people smoke in the home?

It must be another reason, what? I don't know. But i think more research is required.
You say that smoking in pregnancy does no harm. What medical evidence do you have? You say that we'd not have had soldiers if smoking by pregnant women caused the death of foetuses or babies.

"The vast body of research shows that smoking is harmful throughout pregnancy. Many studies have found that smoking in pregnancy is likely to increase the risk of miscarriage, premature birth and cot death, as well as breathing problems" Professor Robert West , of Cancer Research UK, quoted 14/2/08 in response to a claim that it was only harmful after 4 months of pregnancy.

Which do you now accept? Your own opinion without evidence or the opinion of a doctor who is a Professor of medicine with a lot of evidence?
I know it`s a myth but I still make the wife and kids stand outside when I smoke .....just incase
Nice one, Elvis !

But then - they could get hit by a drunk driver !!

(Does that constitute "passive drinking?")
