Public Funds in Immigration

I have British citizenship and been married a few months off four years, my husband is hoping to apply for right to remain or citizenship of the UK as soon as we have the money to apply.

My problem now is I have been out of work two months, I didn't even apply for any work for most of that period, I was diagnosed with clinical depression last December, and when I left the last job was in no fit state to work.

I am now getting more and more down as I cannot pay my bills, my husband is working part time and is just about feeding us, but I need to pay for my phone and other debts and to be able to travel for interviews, he cannot pay for this, I have been trying through desparation to find work, but have virtually no money left now and no where to borrow any.

I am at the point where I am beginning to feel I will have to claim benefit, but I am so scared it will effect my husband's chance of getting right to remain or citizenship.

Will it make a problem?

have you got a citizens advice centre near you . you can get good free advice from them in confidence.

I hate doing anything with them, it seems a major battle to get through to them, I think the one that deals with immigration is close to my last address, toooooo many people wanting advice with immigration, and can never get through on the phone!

Writing a letter or e mailing your CAB office may be easier then trying to contact in person or by phone,they will be able to send relevant info back or give details of other organisations that could help you
