I bought a car in june from a business and ive had nothing but problems and have recently found out it is write off and is not safe to be on the road in the condition it was sold to me. He never told me it had been in an accident. I have contacted the seller who has only offered me 400 less than i paid for it and not the full amount. Where do i stand with this? Thanks

You can battle it out and give yourself a lot of stress.

Sometimes it is better to take the sensible approach:-

you have had use of the car for five months or so (I assume);

You would have trouble selling it privately with the knowledge that you have, and in any case would probably get less than is being offered - private sales are usually cheaper than buying from a dealer;

You will be rid of the problem and can buy another car.

I would give serious consideration to accepting this offer just to get rid of a potential nightmare.

If you are the battling type and enjoy a challenge, however, stick to your guns - report him to trading standards, issue a summons in the Small Claims Court (after proper procedure) and see what happens.

Hi, thanks, sorry im only just replying, not been online for a while
well i accepted his offer in the end to save all the stress and time but he still hasnt paid me! keeps saying his cars arent selling and he hasnt got the money just yet but when i bought the car off him he told me his cars go in and out on the same day they sell that quick. now he is offering to take my car and sell it for me and give me the money for that but i dont want him to take my car cuz then ill have nothing if he runs off with it!
What you think??
Thanks
seek legal advice - i.e. citizens advice bureau. i would report him to tradin standards etc. he has a business to think of so he may deal with it if you tell him you are seeking legal advice. DONOT give him the car to seel - you will see nothing of it.
