When going through divorce, at what point does your soon to be ex stop being your official next of kin?

Once there isn�t a whisper of a farthing left in your bank account, when all of the bills have been transferred from her name to yours, when the car is repossessed because she never made the repayments on it, when the bailiff is at the door, when your mother in law is finally saying something nice about you, and when your personal sense of self-worth is about as tattered as the shirt she cut up in a fit of retaliation. That should about do it mate�oh yes, and I forgot, when you have your Decree nisi.

The term 'next of kin' is not defined by law. See here:

However, your spouse retains his/her inheritance rights up until the point where the marriage is legally terminated. i.e. the date when the decree absolute is issued.

I agree with Buenchico. It�s when the decree absolute is applied, which comes after the decree nisi.
